Green Thumbs
Preface
Before diving into the meat of my game, I want to say that none of this would be possible without the love and support of my friends and family.
Creativity is a beautiful thing; growing up I felt alienated from the folks around me who succeeded in areas of such immense creative talent. Music, art, writing -- I never gravitated toward those things. What eventually sucked me in was computers, and the countless applications they possess.
I can't write a book, paint a portrait, or name my favorite 18th century composer (without googling, at least). What I can do is read like a motherfucker. Fail repeatedly, and not let it discourage me from growing. Most important of all, I wake up everyday and face the reality that life is finite.
Not trying to bite off Steve Jobs; or whoever he bit from. A quote that is widely attributed to the founder of Apple resonates so profoundly with me:
"When you grow up you tend to get told the world is the way it is and you're life is just to live your life inside the world.
Try not to bash into the walls too much. Try to have a nice family, have fun, save a little money.
That's a very limited life.
Life can be much broader once you discover one simple fact: Everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you
and you can change it, you can influence it, you can build your own things that other people can use.
Once you learn that, you'll never be the same again."
You are capable of doing whatever you put your mind to. Whatever that thing is, figure it out and commit yourself to achieving it.
