My name is Austin Lidey, and I am bewitched by technology.
There hasn't been a time in my life where I haven't been obsessed, entertained, or just plain curious about the latest and greatest developments in tech. Growing up, I remember playing Half-Life off a CD on my brothers computer thinking to myself: "It can't get any better, right!?"
Moore's Law just wasn't on my radar yet... I started dipping my pinky in the pond during the early days of Garry's Mod. In fact, the modding scene is part of what pushed me to formally pursue this field. The idea of taking something and improving it yourself strikes a deep chord within me. True independence is being self reliant and using your freedom to take an idea and will it into fruition.
Pursuing college was by far one of the best decisions of my life. Making the decision required careful calculation, but in the end I chose to specialize in a career that would carry me into the future.
In Spring of 2022, I graduated with a B.S. in Computer Science & minor in Cyber Security from Eastern Washington University. My current position is an Associate Software Engineer at Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) where I'm learning on a daily basis.
